My feet are ready for adventure
This is a guest post written by my feet. Yes, you read that right: my feet.
UPDATE: I’m a finalist in the contest thanks to the fancy writing footwork of my feet! You can vote for me – Rob Blasko, Contestant #9 – by visiting here. Thanks for your help!
Nomadic Matt and Gap Adventures are giving away a trip to Costa Rica. Since all it takes to enter the contest is the writing of a blog post, we felt it was our obligation to enter this contest on behalf of Rob. You might be asking yourself: “Self, why would Rob’s feet want him to travel to Costa Rica and walk around for 14 days in all sorts of potentially ‘hazardous to feet’ conditions?” Well, it’s our job to break it down for you, and convince Matt and the Gap Adventures folks that Rob is most deserving of this trip.
Over the past few months, Rob has been a bit of a sloth. Sure, he’s been working hard at a full-time job, enjoying time with his girlfriend, and trying to get some new personal projects off the ground. But overall, he’s become a bit of a downer. The “get up and go” attitude that used to have us walking everywhere, exploring new places, and mingling with other feet has gone the wayside. And it’s a shame, really. Feet need activity. We need adventure. Contrary to popular belief, lack of activity bores us. When the most exciting part of our day is guessing what socks he’s gonna put on us, you know there’s a problem.
So what’s the solution? Easy: two action-packed weeks in Costa Rica. We understand that a lot of walking is gonna be involved… probably some hiking, climbing, swimming, and surfing – and we are PUMPED about it. Walking in sea turtle nesting areas? Are you kidding us?! It’s a foot’s dream come true. Biking in La Fortuna? We’ll pedal like we’ve never pedaled before (especially knowing a dip in the hot springs serves as our reward). Zip lines, kayaking and bird watching? Let us tell you: Rob’s other body parts are gonna love it too! Sure, it’s probably a good bet that we’ll be smelling a little rank after all that adventure, but a little stank is worth all those great memories.
Now we don’t want to be selfish. There’s more to gain from this trip than our own personal feet-related benefits. This opportunity can give Rob the motivation he needs to really jump start his new lifestyle. Recently departed from his full-time job, he’s ready to invest in more than just a 9 – 5 life. He’s ready to explore the world. He’s ready to soak up other cultures, new foods, and exciting experiences. He’s ready for adventure. And he wants to share it with friends, family, and new-found web buddies through this blog. Rob’s a true story teller, and nothing pleases him more than spreading tales of his experiences. But this Costa Rica trip is just the start to an amazing story that’s soon to be written… a story about how life is meant to be lived.
Wow. Sorry – got a little sweaty writing all that. We’re really emotional about this, because it’s the perfect opportunity to… well… get Rob back up on his feet, so to speak. So help him out. Help us out. Send him to Costa Rica for a great jump start into this new chapter of his life. He’ll be thrilled, and we’ll be grateful for the opportunity to get outside and explore the beautiful country of Costa Rica. Thanks for reading, and shout-out to Rob’s toes for doing all the grunt work and getting this thing typed up.
